Spring Into Action With Us!

Grab your gloves and garbage bags, shovels and pruning shears–it’s time for Spring Into Action!

Each spring, the Saint Ignatius community gathers for a day of service to our Ohio City neighborhood. As part of Northeast Ohio’s Jesuit Day of Service, we disperse to roughly 10 sites throughout the near West Side to lead various clean-up projects.

The Chatham Community Garden, Monroe Cemetery, St. Malachi, Arrupe House, West Side Catholic Center, and even a couple of Labre sites will welcome students, faculty, parents, families, friends and alumni for a few hours of service on Saturday, April 29. The day begins at 8 a.m. in St. Mary’s Chapel with a prayer service, followed by a light breakfast and service assignments. After the work is done, everyone gathers back at Saint Ignatius around noon for a cookout lunch.

Several other Jesuit institutions will be performing acts of service in their communities that day, including John Carroll University. We work in solidarity of spirit with them on this day.

Additional Ohio City work sites will include covering graffiti around the neighborhood, tidying up West 33rd Place, and tilling a garden on West 47th Street. The Fathers’ Club and Loyola Society Mothers’ Club will support the Arrupe Neighborhood Partnership in planning and execution of this community-focused day.

Everyone is welcome to sign up! Registration is available HERE. Please email Mr. John Gill ’97 if you have any questions. We’ll see you on April 29!
