Vote for Mike McLaughlin ’85 as ALL-USA Coach of the Year

The leader of the Soccer Cats is in the running for another major award.

Head Soccer Coach Mike McLaughlin ’85 is up for the ALL-USA Coach of the Year award, handed out by USA TODAY.

McLaughlin is in the voting by virtue of receiving ALL-USA Boys Soccer Coach of the Year. The coach of the year from each sport is automatically entered into the competition for the national award, which is given to the top vote-getter on USA TODAY’s poll.

McLaughlin steered the Wildcats to a 21-0-2 mark in 2016, leading the Soccer Cats to yet another OHSAA Division I State Championship, the third in a row and eighth in program history. Top Drawer Soccer and USA TODAY each crowned the Wildcats the national champs for the second year in a row, too.

Even more impressive, McLaughlin is a mentor to his young men on the field and in the Theology classroom he leads. Seven of his seniors from last year’s team will play soccer in college next year, including Gatorade Ohio Boys Soccer Player of the Year Stephen Milhoan. McLaughlin’s teams always excel in the classroom, too. His team garnered Academic All-American status for the 16th season in a row with a 3.65 team GPA.

Vote early and often for McLaughlin this week – voting concludes on Friday. Vote Here!
