Who is Tom Healey ’77

Mr. Thomas Healey graduated from Saint Ignatius High School in 1977 and attended the University of Notre Dame for his undergraduate work in philosophy, theology and classical languages. He holds a master’s degree in Religious Studies from John Carroll University. Tom received the Rossing Award in 2003, which is the most prestigious award that Saint Ignatius High School bestows upon a teacher. He was also honored in 2008 with the Ignatian Educator of the Year Award.

Tom has been a teacher in the Theology Department for 35 years. He has taught all level, but now teaches Christian Manhood and The Paschal Mystery to seniors. Over the years he has moderated the Ignatian, Vista, the Inklings, the Tolkien Club, the Notre Dame Club, and the Multicultural Student Union. With Jim Brennan he started the Kick-It for Kevin kickball tournament to raise money for pediatric cancer research. For 15 years he coached soccer and also was head of the Theology Department for 7 years.

Tom is the husband of Ann Healey, and their children are the late Kevin Healey, Class of 2007, and Mary Kate Healey, a current senior at the University of Notre Dame. The Healeys reside in Fairview Park and belong to St. Angela Merici Parish
